Kawaii Bird Amigurumi – Crochet Free Pattern

Materials

• DK yarn:
  • Light blue or gray: main color (head, wings, tail, crest)
  • White: belly
  • Orange: beak
  • Brown: feet
  • Pink: cheeks
• 8 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• Yarn needle, stitch marker, scissors

Head + Body (worked as one piece)

Using gray/light blue yarn:

4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
5. (3 sc, inc) x6 (30)
6. (4 sc, inc) x6 (36)
   7–11. sc around (36)
7. (4 sc, dec) x6 (30)
8. (3 sc, dec) x6 (24)
   Switch to white yarn (belly)
   14–18. sc around (24)
9. (2 sc, dec) x6 (18)
10. (1 sc, dec) x6 (12)
    Stuff firmly
11. dec x6 (6)
    Fasten off and close with a yarn needle

Place safety eyes between R7–8, approx. 7 sts apart
Add small pink felt or embroidered cheeks below eyes

Wings (Make 2, gray yarn)

1. MR, 6 sc (6)
2. (1 sc, inc) x3 (9)
   3–4. sc around (9)
3. (1 sc, dec) x3 (6)
   Flatten and sew to sides

Feet (Make 2, brown yarn)

1. ch 4
2. Starting in 2nd ch from hook: sc, hdc, sl st (3)
   Repeat this 3 times to make 3 toes
   Fasten off and sew under body

Beak (orange yarn)

1. MR, 4 sc (4)
2. inc x4 (8)
3. sc around (8)
   Stuff lightly and sew between the eyes

Tail (gray yarn)

1. MR, 6 sc (6)
2. (1 sc, inc) x3 (9)
   3–4. sc around (9)
   Flatten and sew at the back of the body

Crest (top of head, gray yarn, make 2-3)

For each “feather”:

1. ch 5
2. Starting in 2nd ch: sl st, sc, hdc, dc
   Fasten off, stitch in a bunch at the top of the head

Assembly Order

1. Attach eyes, cheeks and beak
2. Sew wings to sides
3. Sew tail and crest tufts
4. Sew feet underneath
